On July 5th, 2013 I toured a NY shelter and saw Indy. She had been found tied to a bench in a heatwave. No food, water, unable to stand. When the fireworks ended and the people cleared, Indy was found. Yonkers Animal Shelter was unsure if Indy would make it. I saw the longing in her eyes when she saw my daughter. She wanted to live and play. I asked SCRNYC who I volunteer with to help her. I fostered her and ended up adopting her. She has been with us for over 2 years now and loves everyone! Dogs, cats, kids. Despite her unknown, horrific past, she has forgive and lives in the moment.
