“I wasn’t going to give him to a shelter. I wanted some place for him to be happy until I got back on my feet,” Andaverde explains.
After Andaverde worked hard to be in a better situation three months later, the friend wouldn’t return sweet Chaos.
Fortunately for Andaverde (and Chaos!), a Winnebago County Services shelter worker recently discovered a dog in her driveway and contacted the 2-year-old microchip information. It was Chaos!
“I couldn’t get to the shelter fast enough,” Andaverde says.
He immediately drove the hour and a half to reintroduce himself to Chaos. The shelter caught the beautiful moment on video:
Dear Chaos is clearly in shock until he fully recognizes Andaverde.
“I was speechless and I couldn’t stop smiling,” Andaverde says, “I just couldn’t believe it.”
Originally, Andaverde says, “I did debate getting the microchip for Chaos because at that time, it was all about affordability. I was living paycheck to paycheck and was worried about food and shelter. But I just had this feeling that it was the best thing to do, and it turned out to be the best thing I ever did! Honestly, without that chip, I know in my heart, that I would’ve never seen him again.”
We can’t imagine a better story to share about the importance of ensuring your furry friend’s safety.
